The Ultimate Guide To Styling Statement Accessories By Bloggers (and Readers!)
Here’s what some of my fellow bloggers had to say about statement accessories!
Simplicity Is Important
“My favorite way to style statement accessories is to keep the focus on a single piece. If you’re wearing a statement necklace, keep the earrings, rings, and bracelets on the daintier side (and don’t pile ’em on). Not only do you want the statement piece to shine, but you want to minimize the risk you look over-accessorized.”
– Ashley, Le Stylo Rouge
“Oh, statement pieces, how I love you so. Whenever I wear a statement piece whether it be a pair of shoes or some accessories I always try and make sure that statement piece pops. This means I try to keep the rest of the outfit somewhat simple. My go to is a plain tank with a few statement necklaces and my cobalt blue Betsey Johnson wedges.”
–Monica, Jersey Girl, Texan Heart
“Sometimes less is more so either include only one or maybe two accessories”
– Sierra, Winks & Eyerolls
Play With Color
“I don’t have a lot of the typical “statement accessories” so I like to style my pops of color with a fun lipstick or bright shoes. It always adds something extra to a basic outfit.”
– Faith, Winks & Eyerolls
“I’m not as adventurous as my sister Faith with my lipstick so I stick to the more traditional accessories. For me a bright clutch or statement necklace can finish off the look. I also like to play around with contrasting colors without it becoming gaudy or overboard.”
“When adding a pop of color go with a contrasting color. For example, if you are wearing navy (cool undertone) add a color with a warm undertone, like a bold yellow or orange. Or, if you are wearing mint, accessorize with blush. Focus on one bold statement piece, like a purse or shoes. Finally, if you want to add the color into your jewelry mix, find a necklace or bracelet with the same pop of the color. This is a simple way to add the pop of color trend. Of course, you can get really creative and mix different undertones and shades. The sky is the limit.”

Mix It Up & Think Outside of The Box
“My personal style tends to be a little more subdued color wise. I find if I buy more neutrals pieces I can mix and match them more easily. That is where statement accessories come into play. With a neutral canvas, a bright shoe, a great bag, or a bold necklace can really add a lot to a look. Lately I have also been loving sunglasses as a great statement piece. Although it definitely can, I don’t think statement has to mean color.”
– Amy Ann, Straight A Style
“Three of my statement style accessory tips: 1. Pick one bold accessory to make a statement, like a big necklace or a bright-colored bag. 2. If you want to mix printed accessories, stick to the same color story, like a blue floral bag with blue and white striped shoes, or a leopard print belt with polka dot flats. 3. Have fun with it!”
Draw Attention To Your Best Features
“For statement accessories, I would say know what area you want to focus on or what you want to play up. Statement accessories are great to highlight what you do love and distract from areas that you don’t really love.”
– Adri, Adri Lately
Don’t Be Afraid To Flaunt It- Confidence Is Key!
“When you do wear statement pieces I urge all women to wear it with CONFIDENCE. This is the final touch on an outfit. If you don’t have confidence you won’t look trendy, you’ll look like you were forced to wear whatever you’re wearing.”
–Monica, Jersey Girl, Texan Heart
“My main tip for statement accessories is to wear them with confidence. One of the biggest concerns people seem to have about wearing statement accessories is whether or not they can “pull them off.” If you like it, then you should rock it!”
